Interested in an internship? We have our 2019 interns, but keep us in mind for future years.
Internship Starts: April/May
Internship Ends: September/October
Number of Interns: 2
App Deadline: April 1 or until positions filled
Minimum Length of Stay: 4 months
Meals: A delicious lunch will be provided each work day, and all farm members share this meal together. Produce and eggs from the farm are free for the taking.
Skills Desired: While no previous farming experience is needed, an intern should have a sustained interest in farming and be a sincere and committed addition to the farm’s staff.
An intern is desired to be hard working, flexible, upbeat, have a positive attitude, and open to give and receive feedback. The ability to lift 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions such as rain and strong heat are preferred.
Educational Opportunities: We will educate an intern on organic farming practices. Each day provides new opportunities for an intern to learn how to care for plants and livestock as the season progresses. Our farm offers a unique experience, where an intern can explore our fields, woods, and creeks and learn from nature and agriculture working together.
Stipend: $125 per week
Housing: Housing is provided in a small cabin on the farm along the river. It has electric, a gas stove, a sink, beds, dining table, and a private bathroom in the main house.
Internship Details: An intern is expected to help in all aspects of raising, harvesting, and selling produce. This means he or she will be in the field learning and practicing methods of planting, cultivating, weeding, and harvesting vegetables and cut flowers. Out of the field, interns will pack produce for market, CSA shares, and restaurant orders.
In addition to produce, interns are expected to help with livestock. Moving and watering the meat chickens may be daily activities in addition to collecting eggs from the laying hens.
